Inside decks of Carnival Splendor The Atrium is on Deck 3 when you enter Carnival Splendor. Embarkation & disembarkation this is on this level. The Atrium is serviced by 4 glass lifts that go up the void to the skylight. Most of the commercial areas on Carnival Splendor are on decks 3, 4 & 5. Above the Skylight in the atrium is the Thunderball water slide. Notice the circles/pearls/gem type feel about the whole of Carnival Splendor. Splendor was originally going to be a Costa ship, a Concordia designed ship made in Italy in 2007. The interior designed by Joe Farkas, is a mismatch of about four different themes. The pearl theme also extends to some balustrades, looking a String of Pearls. The decor has been described as unique, unusual, tacky & tasteless. It combines with a White Star Line retro feel with people in bathing suits & interesting paintings along the walls. See these dimples & circles of pink stripes which is a zebra theme. The whole interior has a element of darkness, overwhelm & claustrophobia. Even the lights, these little dotty pearl lights. The black shiny floors & the dotty lights that reflect can be an overwhelming sensation. You will notice that the lifts & the toilet doors in public spaces all have a similar stripey circle feel that doesn't differentiate. Deck 10 or the upper level of the Lido pool space which has a cover over it because this boat was built for a European climate. It has this Undercover Pool & Spa area looks down over the deck 9 the Lido deck, where they have a large stage. Poor design seems to be something that this previous Costa Concordia style ship has unwelcoming doors from Cloud 9 Spa & every door looks like a blast door. Nothing really looks inviting & opening it's a very confronting ship. Going into the Lido area, a traditional feel of a cruise ship. It has the Pizza & Burger Bar which is a clean open bright area. Not overwhelming dark décor of the pink circles of the interior décor. Even though this footage was shot at night it still looks like an open welcoming space. There are two bars, when it is a full cruise ship these spaces are very packed, it was quite a lively space At the rear of the boat is the Sanctuary, the adult only area near the Artisan sandwich bar and the Indian restaurant. If you are a sensory person both sights & sound this space can be quite confronting and overwhelming. The Red Frog bar is a more traditional feel (line dancing) with the lower ceilings. You can see a lot of those black pillars like other silver & gold pillars the public spaces that impede movement. Walking through the casino you can traverse the outside decks on I think it's 5 & 6 but the doors are just not welcoming. They look like blast doors that doesn't invite you to go out in Promenade on the outside deck, this is possibly due to its European Heritage. The commercial areas once again there are those big pillars in the middle of the walkway. The commercial shop type area Deck 5 feel of these commercial spaces on Carnival Splendor are very traditional & what you would expect on a modern cruise ship, light bright open, very pleasant space. Our House Sports bar with a very kitschy feel to it, with a very dark metallic décor. Arty faces on the wall look like trash or recycling, it's an interesting space. It does have 2 entrances like a lot of the ships bars. I was concerned that it only looked as if it had one entryway but once I did more investigation, there is another entrance/exit. Moving towards the aft on Deck 5 through the casino there’s the dark laquear floor that reflects the dotty lights from above. It is quite an overwhelming space walking past bars. There is some more commercial space the Lolly shop - Cherry On Top, a nice juice bar & coffee shop. These big silver poles are in the middle of the walkway, I just don't get why there are these big poles in the middle of the walkway. The Arcade space and then Red Carpet Lounge, where I went to a private function. The Red Carpet is a reasonable space with dark colours making it quite overwhelming. There is big Pole right in the middle of the walkway, this was one of my biggest bug bare about this whole ship. The Alchemy bar on some of the older deck plans is called a Wine Bar. The Grand Piano Room that's a kitch little room with all the tables looking like the top of a grand piano. Down to the back is the El Moroccan which is quite a beautiful space. An open discotheque lounge type area with a bar & nice reclining chairs. I spent quite a lot of time in this space. That was some footage of some decks within Carnival Splendor. Quite an interesting boat as you can see. I hope I didn't put anybody off by any of my comments. You can read all about what other people's feelings are about Carnival Splendor on any of the social media or on Cruise Critic etc, I hope you're planning a cruise somewhere in Australia or the world really soon.
