Good morning from the Norwegian Epic — Exploring the Ship on a Stunning Atlantic Sunrise Good morning — well, technically it’s an early 6 a.m. start, but I’m just leaving Barcelona onboard the Norwegian Epic, part of the NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line) fleet. This massive cruise ship can carry over 6,000 passengers with a crew of more than 2,000, making it one of the largest ships I've sailed on. Today, I’m going to take you on a full exploration of the ship so you can get a feel for what life is like onboard the Norwegian Epic cruise ship. Since we have a few days at sea, it’s the perfect time to explore all 15 decks. I’m currently on deck 8 where my stateroom is located, but we’ll start our tour on deck 5 and work our way up to deck 15. Some decks are mostly staterooms without major public areas, but I’ll point out all the key spots. Deck 5 Highlights: Dining, Casino & Entertainment Starting at deck 5, we have the Manhattan restaurant—a complimentary dining venue—and several lively bars. The casino here is huge, probably one of the biggest I've seen on any cruise ship. It’s open 24 hours and includes the Cavern Club, a fun Beatles-themed bar right in the middle of the casino. Also on deck 5 is Shanghai—a complimentary Asian dining restaurant—and the noodle bar, which I enjoyed last night. Just stunning food! The atrium features a spectacular chandelier that changes colors, and beneath it is the Taste dining room, the ship’s main dining area. Deck 6: Bars, Entertainment & More On deck 6, you'll find Oceans Irish Pub, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an authentic Irish pub atmosphere. It’s open almost 24/7, perfect for grabbing a casual meal or a drink. There’s also a bowling alley here with various settings, and a bar where they host trivia and games. Nearby is the Headliners Comedy Club, which runs shows mainly in the evenings. The Spiegel Tent is a unique space for comedy, shows, trivia nights, and competitions — adding a great variety of entertainment onboard. Deck 7: Premium Dining, Shops & Lounges Deck 7 is all about upscale dining and shopping. You’ll find Cagney’s Steakhouse — a premium restaurant serving top-quality cuts of meat — and Madrai, another fantastic dining option. Also here are Wasabi, a sushi and teppanyaki restaurant with cover charges, and several bars including the Shakers Martini Bar and a whiskey bar with a rich, cozy vibe. This deck also houses the Bliss Ultra Lounge, a chic bar with restricted access for children, offering a beautiful view of the central atrium. Decks 8 to 15: Staterooms, Spa, Fitness & Pool Deck Decks 8 to 14 are mostly staterooms, including special Studio cabins designed for solo travelers, which share a communal lounge. On deck 14, there’s the fitness center, spa, and some outdoor dining options. The outdoor pool deck on deck 15 features multiple water slides—including purple, green, and yellow slides—and splash pools perfect for families. The Waves Bar on the pool deck serves refreshments poolside, and towels are conveniently located nearby. Sunrise Over the Atlantic & Scenic Views I caught this beautiful sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean from the Garden Café this morning — it’s breathtaking. We’re sailing along the Spanish coast, somewhere between Valencia and Malaga, heading north toward Barcelona. Quick Tips for Cruisers on Norwegian Epic: Use the Wayfinder screens throughout the ship to find restaurants, bars, activities, and showtimes. Book your theater tickets in advance since the Epic Theater can get busy. Try premium dining experiences like Cagney’s Steakhouse or Wasabi for special occasions. Don’t miss the Spiegel Tent for unique entertainment. Explore the bowling alley and Irish Pub for fun downtime activities. Solo travelers can check out the Studio cabins and exclusive lounge on decks 11 and 12. That’s a quick tour of the Norwegian Epic cruise ship so far! I’m looking forward to sharing more onboard experiences as the cruise continues.
