Before my daughter and I set sail on a cruise to The Bahamas, we made a very important stop in Miami — and there’s a reason any good travel agent will recommend doing the same. Travel delays happen, flights get canceled, bags get lost… and cruise ships don’t wait. We say our goodbyes, travel through our home airport, fly into Fort Lauderdale, and Uber down to Miami to start our adventure. For our overnight stay, we checked into the Eurostars Langford Hotel, a surprisingly well-appointed hotel close to the cruise terminal and walkable to the city — because budget-friendly options in downtown Miami with a good reputation can be hard to find. After settling in, we explored the city on foot, stopped for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co (a fun novelty stop with a gift card win), and spent the evening wandering through Bayside Marketplace at Pier 5. Between the Cuban décor, music, waterfront views, colorful shops, and unexpected moments — including spotting the cutest little pink delivery robot — it was the perfect pre-cruise evening. The next morning, it was finally time! We arrived at the Miami cruise terminal (AA) and checked in for our MSC Cruise sailing.
