Is a Virgin Voyages Alaska cruise the right way to see the Last Frontier? After 5 Virgin sailings and 8 trips to Alaska, Heidi and I boarded Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady in Seattle to find out what this adults-only ship gets right, and where it falls short. 🚢🏔️ 💲Save BIG with MEI-Travel cruise deals: https://bookmeicruise.com/?apid=escy 🌎Save Up to 40% On Shore Excursions: https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?id=1603014 UP NEXT - 6 Cruise Lines EVERYONE is Switching to in 2026: https://youtu.be/M-4eM2avmPU Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/@Eatsleepcruise1 This is our honest, firsthand take on the pros and cons of a Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady Alaska cruise, so you can decide if it's the right ship for the trip you're planning. ✅ THE PROS 🍽️ The food is one of Virgin's biggest strengths. Six complimentary sit-down restaurants, no main dining room, and no specialty upcharges. Think The Wake steakhouse, Pink Agave, Gunbae, and Test Kitchen, plus a brand-new spot on Brilliant Lady, Rojo by Razzle Dazzle. Several menus added Alaska-inspired dishes and drinks marked with a little bear icon, from Achiote Spiced Salmon to boozy hot chocolate during glacier viewing. 🎭 A completely different energy. Live music until midnight, production shows, Scarlet Night, and Alaska-themed fun like Lumberjack Games and Salty Trivia. We'd argue Brilliant Lady has the best entertainment in the Virgin fleet. 🎓 Alaska enrichment that surprised us. A Naturalist and a Cultural Heritage Guide from Alaska Native Voices led talks, wildlife viewing, and more. It was better than we expected from Virgin. 🍷 The adults-only atmosphere works better here than we thought it would. 💲 Better value than you'd think. Basic WiFi, most dining, fitness classes, and soft drinks are included, which changes the math once you compare what's actually built into the fare. ❌ THE CONS 🌲 Brilliant Lady isn't designed for Alaska viewing. Most scenic spots are aft, there's no forward-facing observation lounge with panoramic glass, and covered outdoor space is limited for the cold, rainy days that come with the region. 🧊 No Glacier Bay, and no cruisetours. This itinerary sails Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, and there's no way to add Denali or Alaska's interior. 🔇 Scenic cruising is almost too quiet. Virgin skips the ship-wide announcements, so you miss the wildlife sightings and narration you'd get on other lines. A Naturalist-led WhatsApp group helps, but we'd rather watch Alaska than our phones. 🚐 Shore excursions felt a little disorganized, especially in Juneau where tendering was involved. 🛏️ A few more trade-offs. Small cabins with little storage for all your Alaska layers, a Redemption Spa that isn't built for scenic viewing, a busy shared terminal at Seattle's Pier 91, and no traditional unlimited drink package. Virgin's new VoyageFair fare tiers also make it important to read the fine print before you book. So would we book a Virgin Voyages Alaska cruise again? It depends on what you want. If you care as much about what happens onboard as you do about the itinerary, Virgin offers something different in Alaska. But if Glacier Bay, a forward observation lounge, or a Denali cruisetour top your list, another line may be the better fit. After 8 cruises here, our biggest takeaway is simple: Virgin Voyages is really good at being Virgin. The question is whether that's the Alaska cruise you're looking for. 🧭 0:00 Is a Virgin Voyages Alaska Cruise Worth It? 0:45 Adults-Only Vibe & Alaska Enrichment 2:38 Brilliant Lady Alaska Isn't Built for Alaska Scenery 4:08 Virgin Voyages Alaska Dining: The Best in Alaska 6:40 No Glacier Bay & Shore Excursions 9:35 Alaska Activities, Nightlife & Entertainment 10:51 Virgin's No-Announcement Problem in Alaska 11:58 Virgin Voyages Pricing, Cabins & Fare Types 16:42 Is Virgin Voyages Right for Your Alaska Cruise? #VirginVoyages #VirginVoyagesAlaska #BrilliantLady #AlaskaCruise #VirginVoyagesBrilliantLady #Cruise #CruiseTravel #Alaska #CruiseTips #AlaskaCruise2026 ---TRENDING VIDEOS FROM EAT SLEEP CRUISE------ The 10 Major Cruise Lines Ranked Worst to Best: https://youtu.be/n6ThEY2l2r0 40 Cruise Hacks We Swear by After 100 Cruises: https://youtu.be/ivvzrns5QOI 15 Things We Stopped Doing on Cruises: https://youtu.be/GtkBjn5GvJA Best Cruises for Couples: https://youtu.be/fenNj5GmLdM Join us on Social Media as we “Sea the World, One Port at a Time.” Instagram: https://instagram.com/EatSleepCruise Facebook: https://facebook.com/EatSleepCruise Twitter: https://twitter.com/EatSleepCruise TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@eatsleepcruise Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/EatSleepCruise
