Welcome back to Travel Cruise Feast! Explore Napier cruise port in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand—Art Deco city, top attractions, aquarium, waterfront, wineries, greenstone shopping, and must-see cruise shore self tours. Today we're visiting the cruise ship port of Napier, right in the heart of New Zealand's Hawke's Bay regional council. Getting into town is easy; just jump on the free shuttle bus for a quick ride from the port to explore attractions like the National Aquarium or the charming streets of Hastings. Check out this travel vlog for cruise tips and travel tips to make the most of your visit! Once you’re in the city, you can choose your adventure: • Visit the National Aquarium of New Zealand • Walk the scenic waterfront • Or wander the charming streets filled with Art Deco architecture Hawke’s Bay is known for sunshine — more than 2,200 hours a year — which is why the region is packed with vineyards, orchards, and outdoor activities. In fact, Napier and the wider region have over 70 wineries. Napier’s history goes back to the 1800s, starting as a small settlement of just a few hundred people. It grew steadily… until everything changed in 1931. The Hawke’s Bay Earthquake destroyed much of the city and reshaped the land. But from that devastation came something extraordinary: a complete rebuild in Art Deco, Spanish Mission, and Stripped Classical styles. That’s why Napier is now one of the world’s best-preserved Art Deco cities. The city kept growing through the mid-20th century, and today it’s a vibrant community of around 65,000 residents. Napier is also a great place to shop for jewellery — especially New Zealand greenstone, or pounamu. This beautiful, jade-like stone is incredibly strong and traditionally carved into Māori designs. Even though it comes from the South Island, many talented artisans in Napier create stunning pounamu pieces. When you’re ready to head back to the ship, the return shuttle stop is conveniently located just across the road from town. And after a sunny day exploring Hawke’s Bay, there’s nothing better than stepping back onboard for a cool drink, a warm dinner, and an evening show. Ah… that’s the cruise life. Make sure to subscribe — because next in this series, we’re visiting the cruise port of Tauranga. #princescruises #diamondprincess
