Royal Caribbean Just Bought 50% of Sandals & Beaches Resorts

Royal Caribbean Group and Sandals Resorts just announced a major new partnership. Royal Caribbean Group has agreed to invest approximately $3 billion for a 50% equity stake in Sandals and Beaches Resorts, creating a joint venture between two major Caribbean vacation companies. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, subject to customary approvals and closing conditions. I had the opportunity today to hear directly from Sandals and Beaches Executive Chairman Adam Stewart about what this means for guests. One of the biggest messages: don't expect Sandals and Beaches to suddenly become Royal Caribbean resorts. Existing reservations, loyalty programs, resort operations and Royal Caribbean cruise operations will continue as usual. Adam Stewart will also remain Executive Chairman and continue guiding the long-term growth of Sandals and Beaches. The partnership is intended to provide additional resources to grow the Sandals and Beaches brands, invest in the resort portfolio and expand into new destinations. And what about Royal Caribbean cruise passengers getting day passes to Sandals or Beaches? Based on what we were told today, that's not the plan. There are also some very interesting possibilities around loyalty in the future, but no specific reciprocal loyalty benefits have been officially announced yet. For now, the existing programs remain unchanged. I've stayed at multiple Sandals and Beaches properties and sail Royal Caribbean regularly, so I'm very interested to see where this partnership goes.
