Canyon Overlook Trail in Zion National Park is one of the best easy hikes in Utah. If you’re looking for an incredible viewpoint without spending hours on the trail, Canyon Overlook Trail delivers some of the most spectacular views in Zion National Park in just about 1 mile round trip. Located immediately outside the east entrance of the Zion–Mount Carmel Tunnel, this popular hike follows sandstone ledges, carved rock steps, and scenic cliffside pathways before opening up to breathtaking views of Zion Canyon, Pine Creek Canyon, and the surrounding red rock cliffs. Parking is extremely limited and fills early, especially during peak season. There is only a small parking area near the trailhead, so arriving early in the morning or later in the evening gives you the best chance of finding a spot. While the trail includes some elevation gain, uneven terrain, and a few sections with drop-offs, it is generally considered family-friendly and is one of the most popular hikes in Zion for visitors of all ages. Handrails are installed along several exposed sections, but children should still be closely supervised.
