KARL BUSHBY A British adventurer, Karl Bushby has just about completed his decades long journey around the world. He's just spent three days at sea swimming across the English Channel to get back home. But this is just the end of a very long journey spanning decades and continents. You see, for the past 28 years Karl has been walking around the world! Karl came up with the idea while serving in the army. He sketched out a rough route on a world map and set two rules for himself. First, not to use vehicles to progress his trek he had to walk or swim and second not to return to his home city of Hull in England until he'd completed the more than 50,000 kilometers journey from the Southern tip of South America. Of course, Karl ran into quite a few hurdles along the way. Visa restrictions, COVID-19, and global conflicts meant sometimes he had to pause his walk, but he always came back to the exact same spot he left off. Now, Karl has finally made it back to the UK, but he still has one final stretch to go! A roughly 400 kilometer walk back to his hometown, Hull. NOBEL PRIZE The winner of this year's Nobel Prize for literature has just been announced. The 76-year-old is a poet and essayist and was given the award for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with a classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature. Along with the prize she'll take home $1.7 million dollars. The Nobel Prizes are prestigious awards given for outstanding achievements in 6 different categories. So far, the winners in physics, chemistry and medicine have also been announced. With the winners of the Peace Prize and the Economic Sciences prize to be announced over the weekend. RODEO KID Now we're going to meet ten-year-old Tate from the Northern Territory who's got an unusual hobby riding bulls! This is Tate, from Berry Springs in NT. And this is what he likes to do for fun. Tate is a bull rider and competes in rodeo events right across Australia. It's a pretty risky sport, but luckily, he's got plenty of support from his mum and dad who help him practice. But he hasn't always been riding bulls he started out by learning to ride something a little smaller. From baby calves to bulls, all that practice seems to be paying off with Tate already taking home some of the top prizes in the rodeo world belt buckles. Now, Tate's taking his talents from the farms of the Northern territory all the way to Las Vegas in the United States, where he'll be competing against other young bull riders in the Junior National Finals Rodeo. TWO-LEGGED ROBOT First up, to a two-legged robot in the UK, being put to the test as a delivery bot. It can even climb stairs. The folks behind this trial hope the robot can help with what's known as "last mile delivery" basically the final part of the delivery process where a parcel is taken from a sorting facility to your house. WAX KEBAB Now to a big red button. Revealing a kebab. Notice, anything strange? It is all made from wax! Even the spinning mound of doner kebab meat in the background. This is the latest installation at a Madam Tussaud's wax museum in Germany. To immortalise a local kebab shop. Just to confuse you, this is footage of that real kebab shop. Where these chaps are making real kebabs. Not wax. CREW 12 SPLASHDOWN Finally, an update on the return journey of SpaceX's Crew 12, they've just splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California, after nearly 8 months in space. __________________________________________ Subscribe https://www.youtube.com/behindthenews?sub_confirmation=1 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@behindthenewstv Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abcbtn Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/behindthenews/ For the past 55 years, Behind the News has been helping to break down current issues and events for young people all around the world.
