A routine Alaska cruise turned into a real emergency this week when a 51-year-old passenger aboard Carnival Luminosa began showing signs of a stroke, 45 miles off the California coast. Ship's crew called it in immediately, and the Coast Guard had a helicopter in the air within the hour. The rescue itself was no small thing, 40 mile per hour winds, ten foot swells, and a crew that had to rappel onto a moving ship to reach her. She's now recovering in stable condition at a hospital in Fort Bragg, and the ship continued on to San Francisco the next day without further issue. This is actually the fourth Coast Guard medevac from a Carnival ship this year alone, which says less about safety onboard and more about just how prepared these crews are for the moment something goes wrong at sea. Ever had a moment on a cruise where you saw just how seriously the crew takes an emergency? #cruisenews #carnivalcruise #coastguard #cruisesafety #alaskacruise
