The 2-bedroom 2-bathroom suite was great as well, and I highly recommend it. There are only 10 of these rooms on the ship, so book early. My son, Caleb, is a musician, instrument designer, and entrepreneur. During our voyage aboard the Norwegian Star, he had the honor of performing alongside several of the ship's talented musicians and presenting a special onboard concert featuring his custom 3D-printed acoustic violin. Caleb is the founder of 3dviolins.com, where he designs and builds custom 3D-printed acoustic violins with the goal of making quality string instruments more affordable and accessible to students and musicians around the world. Throughout this video, you'll see his custom Norwegian Cruise Line-themed 3D-printed violin in several scenes. One of the highlights is a performance of Ludovico Einaudi's beautiful piece, "Nuvole Bianche," filmed from our balcony as the Norwegian Star sailed away from the breathtaking Norwegian fjords. At the 19:21 this is actually the audio from his 3D violin. Watch the 3Dviolin performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UV_4wU38bU4 If you'd like to learn more about Caleb's innovative violins or see his latest creations, visit: https://3dviolins.com/ Travel Tips: To get from London to Southampton for your cruise, take a direct South Western Railway train from London Waterloo Station to Southampton Central. From Southampton Central Station, the cruise terminals are about 1–2 miles away. The easiest option is to take a taxi or rideshare directly to your ship’s terminal, which usually takes about 5–10 minutes. Onboard Tips: Compared with Princess and Royal Caribbean, Norwegian offers some of the largest accommodations at sea, especially if you upgrade to a suite. The additional space, suite amenities, and overall comfort make it a great option for travelers who value room size. Shore excursions can be booked directly through the cruise line, which is convenient and ensures everything is coordinated with the ship. However, the cruise buses can be crowded, so it may be worth exploring private tour options through companies like Viator or other local providers. Weather Tips: The forecast often shows rain for Norway and Iceland, but don’t let that discourage you. During our trip, we only experienced one true day of heavy rain, and all of our other ports were dry and enjoyable. Summer temperatures are typically in the high 60s°F, so plan for cool days and colder evenings. Bring layers, a light waterproof jacket, and comfortable walking shoes. One unique experience is the long daylight hours — during our trip, the sun was up for nearly 18 hours a day, which takes some adjustment.
