Luxury Meets Adventure on This Mekong Riverboat in Laos
Luang Prabang is a bustling city with beautiful architecture that’s becoming increasingly popular with tourists. Our Heritage Line riverboat has cabins for 20 guests, plus quarters for 20 crew members. The cabins include spacious bathrooms, closet space, and a bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, which slide open. During the cruise down the Mekong, you’ll have two or three optional excursions each day. Some are to well-known tourist sites like the Thousand Buddhas Cave. Others are to small villages, where you’ll learn about the culture. Some villages had no electricity, and no running water. Others had basic setups to charge batteries and a few necessities. A stop at an elephant sanctuary is also included, where you’ll meet the elephants rescued from being chained up in the logging and tourism industries. Back on the boat, there’s a bar area, staffed all day from early morning. The outdoor deck area is really spacious, with multiple seating areas, plus a dining table. The captain invites passengers up to the bridge to learn about navigating the river. Through Heritage Line’s site, you can choose to cruise different boats on different sections of the Mekong… for trips ranging from 4 to 9 days. The cost is $2,000 to $4,000 per person, depending on your cabin and the season you book.
