Made it to the top of the Queen's Staircase in Nassau 🇧🇸 | 66 Steps Carved by Hand
Our cruise docked in Nassau, Bahamas, and we took a taxi to one of the island's most historic landmarks: the Queen's Staircase. Known locally as the 66 Steps, it was carved by hand out of solid limestone between 1793 and 1794 by around 600 enslaved Africans. It was built to link the town below with Fort Fincastle at the top of the hill, and was later named in honour of Queen Victoria. Today it's free to visit, and it's one of the most photographed spots in the Bahamas. It's beautiful. It's also a place to remember whose hands made it. A big thank you to Keith, our taxi driver and tour guide, who made the day so special. [Watch to get Keith's contact details]
