Shimizu to Shizuoka, Mt Fuji World Heritage Center. 1 day from cruise ship Coach tour and 4K walking
Hi Folks, We arrived in Shimizu, and had a tour booked to Shizuoka to the Mt fuji World Heritage center and the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine. We were lucky enough to see Mt Fuji, our tour guide said it is the first day in last week that she was visible.👍 Mt Fuji Legend is that it is a Goddess and she is very shy, constantly covering herself in a shroud of cloud. We were here in summertime so there is no snow on mountain top. Still an awesome day that we were able to see her almost completely in early morning coming in on the Diamond Princess cruise ship into Shimizu. We had an amazing view of Mt fuji from ship and the drive to Shizuoka. The temple was amazing with the Wakatuma Pond being a national designated special natural wonder. There are Japanese paintings from the period of 1300 CE of this pond with Mt Fuji pilgrims purifying themselves in this pond before ascending to the summit. Mt Fuji World Heritage center is amazing with the observation deck, but Mt Fuji had completely covered herself by the time we got there. Interesting fact about Mt Fuji, the Okumiya Shine on the summit is classed as the innermost grounds of the Fujisan Shrine down below 20 klms away. All the land on mountain above the 8th station including the crater belongs to the shrine and the rest of mountain below is owned by Japanese government. A great day, well worth the tour from Shimizu.
