Nassau Royal Beach Club location thru the years #cruise #utopiaoftheseas #nassau #royalbeachclub
Amazing to see the transformation of this strip of land over the years. Last week was my forth visit to the Nassau Royal Beach Club and was the most enjoyable. For the first time we left the pool and went down to the beach (to the right if you are facing the ocean). The water was so clear and the sand so smooth. I dare to say it was far better than the water at CocoCay - let me know if you disagree! As usual, I always want to know more so I asked my friend Gemini to give me some insight that I shared below! #royalcarribean #RoyalBeachClub #nassau #cruiselife #cruising From Hog Island to Paradise Island: The Evolution of the Royal Beach Club Strip If you've been tracking this exact stretch of land on Paradise Island (near the Nassau cruise port) from 2018 to today, you've witnessed a massive transformation. Here is the quick history of how this 17-acre slice of coastline evolved: The Early Days (Hog Island): Long before it was a luxury hotspot, the island was originally named Hog Island and primarily used for agriculture and livestock during the colonial era. The Hartford Era (1950s–1960s): In 1959, A&P supermarket heir George Huntington Hartford II bought the island, rebranded it as Paradise Island in 1962, and began transforming it into an exclusive resort destination—hauling in the famous French Cloisters and building the Ocean Club. The Resort Boom & Cruise Era (1970s–2010s): Over the decades, the surrounding areas of Paradise Island blossomed into world-famous mega-resorts (like Atlantis), while this specific strip remained largely underutilized or undeveloped public/private transitional coastline close to the bustling Nassau harbor traffic. The Modern Transformation (2024–Present): Following a public-private partnership agreement with the Bahamian government, ground officially broke in April 2024 to turn this 17-acre parcel into Royal Beach Club Paradise Island. After rapid construction throughout 2025, the property officially opened in December 2025, converting the once-quiet strip of land into an all-inclusive beach club destination featuring multi-level pools, swim-up bars, and local Bahamian artisan markets. Crazy to look back at photos from 2018 and see just how much this shoreline has changed! 🌴
