⚓ Not the way anyone wants to kick off a cruise. Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas was set to sail out of Port Canaveral around 4 pm on Monday, but a mechanical issue kept the 5,668 guest ship docked well into the night. One passenger, on their 51st cruise, posted that they were still sitting at the terminal past 9:30 pm with no clear answers yet on when they would finally leave. 🚢 The ship eventually got underway, with some guests reporting a 5 am departure and ship tracking data showing it closer to 7 am Tuesday morning. Either way, that lost time meant the four night Bahamas itinerary needed a rework. Perfect Day at CocoCay, originally the first stop, got swapped for a day at sea, Nassau moved up to become the first port call, and CocoCay landed in the spot that was supposed to be a second sea day. Since CocoCay sits under 200 miles from Port Canaveral, guests still got their island day, just shifted later in the trip. Utopia of the Seas has only been sailing since July 2024, so most cruisers will be hoping a hiccup like this stays rare for such a new ship. 🌴 Has a mechanical delay ever rearranged one of your cruise itineraries? #cruisenews #cruisetips #royalcaribbean #utopiaoftheseas #cruiseships
