Our day begins with a very atmospheric arrival into Walvis Bay — complete with fog and the ship's fog horn — before the weather changes dramatically and we discover the extraordinary landscape beyond the coast. We travel through the stark desert scenery surrounding Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, visit the remarkable Moon Landscape and see the ancient Welwitschia mirabilis plants that survive in this incredibly harsh environment. The Moon Landscape is one of the most unusual places we encountered during our travels through Africa. Its deeply eroded valleys and barren terrain really do have an otherworldly appearance — although, as we discover in the video, neither of us has actually been to the Moon to make the comparison!
