This tiny island off the coast of Sicily completely stole my heart. 💙 If you're planning a trip to Sicily, do yourself a favor and spend a day (or 2 days, as was our case) exploring Favignana, the largest of the Egadi Islands. It's known for its unbelievably clear turquoise water, relaxed atmosphere, and some of the best beaches in all of Italy ✨ How to get there: Take a ferry from Trapani. The journey takes about 30–60 minutes, depending on whether you book a high-speed or standard ferry 🚲 The best way to explore: Rent a bike or an e-bike when you arrive. We rented e-bikes, which made exploring super easy. The island is only about 12 square miles, making it incredibly easy to explore in a day 🌊 Don't miss: • Cala Rossa (one of Italy's most famous swimming spots) • Cala Azzurra • Bue Marino • Lido Burrone (great sandy beach) • Castello di Santa Caterina for panoramic views if you're up for the hike 🐟 A little history: Favignana was once one of the Mediterranean's most important tuna fishing centers. You can still visit the former Florio Tuna Factory, which has been turned into a fascinating museum showcasing the island's fishing traditions and history. Make sure you eat tuna while you’re on the island - it’s incredible! 📅 Best time to visit: Late May through June or September are ideal if you want warm weather without the peak summer crowds. July and August are beautiful but much busier. We visited in late September, and it was perfect! 💙 Good to know: The island has no airport, no giant resorts, and no cruise ship crowds parked outside all day.
