High wattage (1600W) overloads cabin circuits. Alternatives: Dual-voltage travel dryers (1000W max). ROYAL CARIBBEAN & CELEBRITY: Updated prohibited items January 2026. ANY power strip banned (even without surge protection). ONLY multi-plug USB charging blocks allowed. CARNIVAL & PRINCESS: New food policies March 2026. No homemade baked goods or unsealed food items. Pre-packaged sealed snacks only. No glass bottles. NORWEGIAN & MSC: Enhanced security screening 2026. Extension cords banned. Multi-outlet adapters with surge protection banned. Simple USB charging hubs allowed (6 ports max, no surge). 💡 Why These Items Are OUTDATED: Clothing Irons/Steamers → Fire hazard. All major lines ban them. Use wrinkle-resistant clothing or ship's laundry service ($1-3 per item). Surge-Protected Power Strips → Circuit overload. Security confiscates immediately. Use non-surge 3-outlet tap + USB hub. High-Voltage Hair Tools → 1600W+ devices trip cabin breakers. Disney confiscates Dyson products. Use dual-voltage travel dryers (1000W). Printed Documents → Cruise lines use QR codes for everything now. Save PDFs in phone instead. Formal Wear → "Formal nights" now mean "dress up" not "black tie." 80% wear cocktail attire, not gowns/tuxedos. 🧳 2026 Smart Packing Essentials: TECH: Anker 6-port USB hub (no surge), 10,000mAh portable charger, Apple AirTags or Tiles in luggage, phone waterproof case, downloaded Netflix/Amazon content 📊 2026 Cruise Statistics: ✓ 85% of cruisers now use digital boarding (no paper) ✓ 62% of confiscated items are power-related (strips, irons, steamers) ✓ Ships provide: shampoo, soap, towels, hair dryer, safe, hangers ✓ Average cabin has 4 outlets + 2 USB ports (insufficient for families) 🚫 Complete 2026 Prohibited Items: Weapons, illegal drugs, candles, incense, coffee makers, clothing irons, steamers, heating pads, surge-protected power strips, extension cords over 6 feet, drones, hoverboards, homemade/unsealed food items 💰 Money-Saving Packing Hacks: • Bring refillable water bottle → Save $3-5/day • Pack wrinkle-release spray → Save $1-3/item pressing fees • Bring portable charger → Avoid $15-30 onboard purchase • Download entertainment → Skip $20-30/day WiFi • Pack seasickness meds → Ship charges $8-12 per pill 🌊 Shore Excursion Packing: Small crossbody bag, waterproof phone pouch, reef-safe sunscreen, collapsible shopping tote, cash in small bills, portable charger, water shoes 📦 RELATED VIDEOS: [Cruise Pricing Tricks; https://youtu.be/GSsrg8yp-y0 Cruise Ranking by Former Crew Member: https://youtu.be/mICFDwSvmQg] 👨✈️ About Cruise Compendium: We test, research, and sail so you don't make expensive packing mistakes!
