A cruise passenger was found face down and unresponsive in a swimming pool aboard the Sun Princess after suffering a devastating cervical spinal-cord injury. Following emergency surgery, he was diagnosed as quadriplegic and placed on a ventilator. We discuss what happened, his return to the United States for treatment, and how quickly a dream cruise vacation can become a life-changing emergency. Also on today’s Cruise Show: 11 cruise-ship workers were apprehended in Boston during Operation Tidal Wave over alleged connections to child sexual-abuse material. The workers were removed from Holland America Line’s Volendam and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Breakaway. We also cover the death of a passenger who went overboard from Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambition, a cruiser upset after storms changed a Caribbean itinerary, whether tipping a room steward with rolled coins is acceptable, and a cruise passenger putting his feet on theater seats.
