This 1985 Pontiac uses a vacuum operated fuel economy gauge instead of a modern digital MPG calculator. The gauge is connected to the engine’s intake manifold, where vacuum changes constantly depending on throttle position and engine load. During gentle cruising, the throttle stays mostly closed, creating strong manifold vacuum and better fuel efficiency, which pushes the needle toward MAX. When the driver accelerates harder, the throttle opens wider, allowing more air into the engine. This rapidly lowers vacuum, increases engine load and fuel consumption, and swings the gauge toward MIN almost instantly. It was a simple but clever analog system that turned real engine physics into a live driving efficiency display decades before modern onboard computers became common. 🎥 by ig/Is_swap_shop (Full credit to you/ Used only for educational purpose) #pontiac #classiccars #engineering #cars #dashboard #automotive #science #vintagecars #mechanic #carhistory #analog #oldschool #fuel #technology #viral 1985 Pontiac fuel economy gauge, manifold vacuum explained, old car MPG gauge, analog fuel economy system, intake manifold vacuum physics, classic Pontiac dashboard, vintage car technology, engine load explained, old school automotive engineering, throttle vacuum relationship, analog dashboard gauges, how old cars measured fuel economy, classic car science, 1980s car features, fuel economy vacuum gauge
