Sudden squall rips cruise ship from its mooring in Rockland Harbor
In Rockland, the “American Independence," a 90-passenger cruise ship, was docked at the public landing with its guests on shore, when a sudden squall ripped it from its mooring and sent it drifting across the harbor around 2:30 p.m. It then struck and bounced off the Safe Harbor Pier, doing extensive damage to both the pier and the ship.
