New Disney CEO’s bold debut 🍿 #disney
🎬 Josh D'Amaro just set the tone on day one as Disney CEO. The Bob era of Disney officially ended on March 18, and D'Amaro jumped right into the deep end by leading his first shareholder call, which turned out to be surprisingly eventful. The biggest surprise was the reveal of Disney's next cruise ship, the Believe, a Wish class ship launching in 2027. Incredibles 3 and Lilo & Stitch 2 both got release dates for 2028. ESPN will broadcast the Super Bowl for the first time ever in February 2027. And D'Amaro talked up Disney's big bets on creativity and technology, including massive expansions in the theme parks like Villains Land. But something in his opening statement stuck out to me the most. D'Amaro got bolder than we're used to hearing in these shareholder calls, with a confident statement that calls out the rest of the entertainment industry: “While others are consolidating just to compete and struggling to be relevant in a fragmented world, Disney is in a category of one.” That's a new CEO planting a flag and setting the tone. D’amaro enters the role with the confidence of having led Disney Experiences as it became Disney’s most profitable business. He clearly wants everyone else in the industry to know he's not interested in playing it safe. I’m here for it. Welcome to the Josh era of Disney. This should be a fun ride. 🏰 #Disney #DisneyParks #DisneyCruiseLine #VillainsLand #DisneyNews
