Philipsburg, Sint Maarten | Walking Tour - Port to Front Street, Fort Amsterdam, Boardwalk, & More
We're back in Philipsburg, the capital of Sint Maarten. This time, however, we're attempting to walk to the far side of Great Bay Beach and reach Fort Amsterdam. It's a long trek, and we'll be walking from the Port of Sint Maarten, through Front Street and Downtown, to reach the fort at the end of Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. As for Philipsburg itself, it's on the Dutch side of the island. The French side is Saint Martin. This port is a beautiful canvas of cobblestone streets and colorful, colonial buildings. The port itself is vibrant, with plenty of shopping and music for anyone who doesn't wish to take a door or stray too far from the ships. However, if you're looking for a bit more, you can take a 10-15 minute walk to Philipsburg. Once you step into Philipsburg, a world of possibilities opens up. Along Front Street and the Great Bay Beach boardwalk, you'll find a plethora of shopping options, a diverse culinary scene, and a range of inexpensive drinks, promising an exciting and fulfilling experience. In fact, the beach itself is huge, with jet ski rentals, playgrounds, and a wealth of seating and lounge areas.
