Alaskan Cruise Day 4: Juneau Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier Hike! 🐋🧊 | Holland America Noordam Welcome to Day 4 of our Alaskan cruise aboard the Holland America Noordam! Today we docked in Juneau, Alaska. After our original helicopter excursion was canceled due to low clouds, we pivoted and booked a last-minute combination tour featuring whale watching and a visit to Mendenhall Glacier—and it turned out to be one of our favorite days of the trip! Highlights from Day 4 in Juneau: Pivoting After Weather Cancellations: How we booked a last-minute excursion right at the port after our helicopter tour was canceled [00:27]. Whale Watching Tour: Sailing into humpback whale territory, seeing two mother whales with their calves, spotting orcas and playing sea lions, and hearing the incredible sound of whale blowholes [00:44]! Mendenhall Glacier & Tongass National Forest: Learning about Alaska's temperate rainforest as we headed out to Mendenhall Glacier [02:25]. Hike to Nugget Falls: Taking the 2-mile round-trip trail to the base of roaring Nugget Falls and learning about how far the glacier has retreated over time [02:52].
