We had an amazing, but chilly visit to Stavanger, Norway in the heart of winter! From January 19–23, 2026, we experienced this beautiful coastal city surrounded by dramatic landscapes, rich Viking history, and unforgettable fjord scenery. Our trip included time exploring Stavanger’s charming harbor and city center, winter views of the North Sea, and a breathtaking fjord cruise into Lysefjord, where steep cliffs, icy waters, and raw Norwegian nature put on a show. We also visited iconic local landmarks like the famous Three Swords (Sverd i fjell), a powerful symbol of Norway’s Viking past as well as Fjord view Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) towering high above the fjord — one of Norway’s most iconic natural landmarks! Winter added a whole new atmosphere to Stavanger — moody skies, crisp air, changing weather, and stunning light that made every moment feel cinematic. This trip was a perfect mix of history, nature, and northern adventure. If you’re thinking about visiting Norway in winter, Stavanger is absolutely worth it.
