This is what it actually looks like to explore Alaska cruise ports on a budget! Most people spend hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars on shore excursions in Alaska. But we wanted to see if you could still have an amazing experience without doing any of that. So instead, we challenged ourselves to keep every activity under $20 while visiting Ketchikan, Sitka, and Prince Rupert. No expensive excursions, no shortcuts, just real planning, exploring, and seeing what’s actually possible on your own. And honestly, we were surprised by how much we were able to do! From seeing bears and bald eagles up close to walking through historic towns, finding hidden gems, and eating some incredible local food, this ended up being one of our favorite ways to experience Alaska.
