Short of the gorgeous Amedee Island New Caledonia. The best things to do are: Snorkel with turtles This would be my number one activity. Amédée is inside a protected marine reserve, and turtles are commonly seen around the reef along with tropical fish, rays and coral. You can snorkel directly from the beach. Climb Amédée Lighthouse The lighthouse is the island's landmark. It is 56 metres high and dates from 1865. There are roughly 240 steps to the top, where you get superb views across the lagoon and barrier reef. Carnival currently charges an additional fee for lighthouse entry. Take the glass-bottom boat This is included with Carnival's current Amédée Island Marine Reserve excursion. It is a great option if you want to see coral, fish and turtles without spending the whole time snorkelling.
