10 vacation planning MISTAKES people still make
After years of helping people plan vacations, these are some mistakes I still see travelers make. 1. Letting TikTok choose your hotel A 30-second video can show you what a hotel looks like, but it may not tell you if the location, atmosphere, or amenities are right for you. 2. Choosing a hotel based only on website photos Photos can look beautiful, but they don’t always show the full experience. Location, room type, reviews, and what’s nearby matter too. 3. Waiting too long to book The rooms and dates you want may not be available later. Waiting can also mean fewer options and higher prices. 4. Skipping travel insurance You may feel completely sure that your trip will happen, but unexpected things can come up. Travel insurance can help protect your investment, depending on the policy. 5. Ignoring room categories Booking the right hotel is only part of the decision. The room category can affect your view, location, space, and overall experience. 6. Ignoring flight schedules A cheaper flight is not always the best value if it adds several hours, long layovers, or unnecessary stress to your trip. 7. Booking based only on price The least expensive option may not include what you actually need. Look at the full value, not only the starting price. 8. Asking too many people where to stay Everyone has different preferences. What one traveler loves may not work for your budget, travel style, or vacation goals. 9. Assuming every all-inclusive resort is the same They’re not. Some are better for couples, families, wellness, nightlife, or relaxing beach vacations. 10. Choosing the wrong destination A destination can look amazing online and still not match the kind of vacation you want. Your travel style should help guide where you go. The best vacation is not always the trendiest, cheapest, or most popular one. It’s the one that fits you.
