Principal BANNED For Life For Changing School Dates to Go on Cruises
A former UK headteacher was banned from teaching after a misconduct panel found she changed school term dates around her personal cruise plans. In this video, Corey from Midships covers the strange case of Joy Ballard, former headteacher of Ryde Academy on the Isle of Wight. The panel found that school term dates around the 2023 Christmas break and the start of the 2024 spring term were shifted, allowing Ballard’s cruise to return on January 3, 2024. But that was only part of the story. The misconduct case also included findings involving a school-funded Peugeot 5008 used for personal commuting and a family trip to France, a February 10 INSET day where Ballard left early and was later photographed on a cruise, and school funds spent on items including camping equipment, a karaoke machine, and televisions. Ballard, who had previously appeared on Channel 4’s Educating Cardiff, was banned from teaching indefinitely, with a review possible after June 2028.
