FlightAware more accurate than American Air #shorts

✈️ WHY DOES FLIGHTAWARE KNOW BEFORE THE AIRLINE APP? 😤 If you fly American Airlines—or really any major airline—you’ve probably experienced this frustration in 2026: you’re sitting at the airport waiting for your flight, the airline app still shows everything on time, but something clearly isn’t adding up. Then you open FlightAware…and suddenly you get a much clearer picture. One of my biggest frustrations with airline travel is how slowly flight information can sometimes appear in airline apps. Delays, inbound aircraft locations, estimated departure times and schedule changes may not always seem to update as quickly as travelers would like. When you’re trying to make a connection, decide whether to head to the gate, grab something to eat, or simply figure out what’s happening, timely information matters! That’s why I use FlightAware. FlightAware lets you track your flight, see where the inbound aircraft is coming from, follow its progress on a map and view estimated arrival and departure information. Sometimes that gives you an indication of a potential delay before the airline app reflects what’s happening. For example, if your American Airlines flight is supposed to leave soon but FlightAware shows that your inbound aircraft hasn’t even landed yet, that’s valuable information! Of course, the airline remains the official source for your flight status, gate assignments, boarding information and schedule changes. FlightAware should be another tool in your travel toolbox—not a replacement for monitoring the airline app, airport screens and announcements. My advice in 2026: CHECK BOTH. Before heading to the airport and while you’re waiting for your flight, check the airline app AND track the aircraft on FlightAware. The more information you have, the better prepared you’ll be when delays happen.
