The Cliff Bay Madeira: Is This 5-Star Hotel Worth It?
Join me for a full tour and review of The Cliff Bay, one of Madeira’s best-known 5-star hotels, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Funchal. It's part of the PortoBay hotel group. This was my first visit to Madeira, and we came to celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday, so we decided to splurge and spend a week at The Cliff Bay. In this video I’ll show you around the hotel, including the beautiful gardens, pools, restaurants and bars, public areas, our Superior Funchal Bay View room, balcony and much more. We stayed on a half-board package, so I’ll also show you breakfast and dinner at the Rose Garden, lunch by the pool at the Blue Lagoon, and our special birthday dinner at Avista. I’ll also take a look at Il Gallo d’Oro, The Cliff Bay’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant. One of my favorite things about this hotel is its setting. The property tumbles down the cliff toward the Atlantic, with pools and sun decks at sea level, direct access to the ocean, beautiful tropical gardens and views of cruise ships arriving in and leaving Funchal. After spending an entire week here, was The Cliff Bay really worth the splurge? Watch to the end for my verdict.
