Canal Pubs: How They Keep Our Narrowboat Going (Beyond the Pints)
Canal pubs on the Shropshire Union Canal are doing a lot more for us than serving pints. In this week’s vlog we are back on board narrowboat Serenissima, easing into winter narrowboat life and showing how canal pubs quietly keep a liveaboard boat going. We start with a big wash at a pub launderette, cruise the Shroppie in late autumn and try a new mooring on the famous Shroppie shelf. There is a trip over Stretton Aqueduct above an old Roman road, a change into Serenissima’s winter Venetian colours and all the usual glamorous jobs that come with life on the UK canals: loos, water, batteries, solar and Starlink. One canal pub also helps us solve a much bigger problem than dirty laundry, but you will see that when we get there. Along the way we chat about real boat life in the colder months: condensation on the windows, leaves around the prop, choosing winter moorings, and the ongoing debate about what to call the bird on our chimney. All of the music in this vlog is written and produced by Adam. If you enjoy spending time with us on the canal, it really helps if you like the video, subscribe and say hello in the comments. We read and reply to every one.
