Today's Day 5 of our 7-Day Caribbean Cruise, and we’re stepping off the NCL Joy and turning left out of the port to explore the hidden gems and vibrant culture tucked away from the main tourist drag. From historic landmarks to the birthplace of the Piña Colada, this was a day for the books! 🇵🇷🚢 📍 Walking the "Left Side" of the Port While most people head straight for the shops, we took a scenic detour to the left along the water to discover parts of the city we've never seen before: Paseo de la Princesa: A stunning, tree-lined promenade that feels like a step back in time. * Fuente Raíces (Roots Fountain): One of the most beautiful monuments in Puerto Rico, celebrating the island's Taíno, African, and Spanish heritage. * Exploration & Shopping: We wandered the colorful cobblestone streets, popping into local boutiques for unique finds away from the usual souvenir stalls. 🍹 The Ultimate Lunch Stops You can’t visit San Juan without hitting these legendary spots: * Barrachina: Known as the birthplace of the Piña Colada! We paired those world-famous drinks with a massive plate of Chicken Mofongo—pure garlic-plantain perfection. * Colmado Q Bar Mouno: A local favorite where we knocked back shots of Chichaito (that delicious anise and rum blend). A must-try if you want an authentic taste of the island! 🍽️ Back Onboard: Nightlife & Nosh After a long day in the sun, we headed back to the NCL Joy for an epic evening with friends: * Le Bistro: A sophisticated French dinner paired with plenty of Veuve Clicquot. The escargot and atmosphere were top-notch. * Q Texas Smokehouse: After dinner, we slowed things down with some live country music. * 90’s Party: To cap off the night, we danced the night away to all the classics!
