Alaska Wilderness Exploration to The Davidson Glacier From Skagway
Join us on an unforgettable all-day wilderness safari as we travel from the historic docks of Skagway to the breathtaking Davidson Glacier. The Journey: Our adventure began with a scenic, hour-long boat ride through the Lynn Canal—North America’s deepest fjord. We docked at a remote island for a wilderness lunch before boarding a bus that took us deeper into the Alaskan backcountry to our hiking trailhead. The Trek & Paddle: At the supply hut, we geared up with boots, lifejackets, and paddles. From there, we hiked to our first set of canoes located downstream from the glacier. We paddled up-creek to a remote beach, crossed a small island on foot, and launched a second set of canoes onto the glacial meltwater lake. This put us "up close and personal" with the massive face of the Davidson Glacier—a truly humbling experience! Wildlife: Alaska is famous for its diverse wildlife. While these tours often offer glimpses of grizzly bears, elk, deer, humpback whales, orcas (killer whales), seals, and otters, nature had other plans for us today. Aside from a majestic bald eagle, the animals remained elusive—but the spectacular scenery more than made up for it!
