Norwegian Joy Arrives in Sitka With a Fin Whale on Its Bow

A dead fin whale was found on the bow of Norwegian Joy as the cruise ship arrived near Sitka, Alaska. It is the second disturbing incident involving a fin whale and an Alaska cruise ship this summer. Federal officials and the Alaska Marine Mammal Stranding Network are responding, but one critical question remains unanswered. Was the endangered whale killed by the ship, or was it already dead before the encounter? Earlier this summer, a pregnant fin whale was discovered on the bow of Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas after it arrived in Seward. Two endangered whales. Two Alaska cruise ships. One summer. In this video, I explain what has been confirmed, what investigators still do not know, and the difficult questions these incidents raise for Alaska’s cruise industry. #CruiseNews #AlaskaCruise #NorwegianJoy ABOUT ANGELA HUGHES Angela Hughes is the CEO and Founder of Trips & Ships Luxury Travel and the Founder of Luxury Travel University.
