Devagiri Fort (also known as Daulatabad Fort) is a medieval hill fortress situated on a 200-meter-high conical granite rock near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. Built in the late 12th century, it is famed for its multi-tiered defense system that rendered it virtually impregnable throughout medieval history. Historical Timeline Yadava Dynasty (1187 CE): Established by King Bhillama V as the royal capital Devagiri ("Hill of the Gods"). Tughluq Era (1327 CE): Sultan Muhammad bin Tughluq forcibly relocated his capital—and Delhi's entire population—to Devagiri, renaming the fortress Daulatabad ("Abode of Wealth"). Later Rulers: Successively controlled by the Bahmani Sultanate, the Nizam Shahis of Ahmednagar, the Mughal Empire (under Akbar and Aurangzeb), and the Nizams of Hyderabad. Defensive & Architectural Highlights Triple Defenses: Encircled by three concentric fortification walls (Katak, Manjot, and Kalakot) lined with iron-spiked wooden gates to stop war elephants. Rock-Cut Scarp & Moat: Surrounded by a deep, 50-foot-wide dry trench and vertical rock cliffs carved directly out of the mountain bedrock. The Dark Labyrinth (Bhul-bhulaiya): A pitch-black, subterranean zigzag passage featuring steep stairs, false turns, drop-offs, and smoke chutes designed to trap and disorient invading forces. Chand Minar: A 63-meter (210-foot) tall, four-tiered minaret erected in 1445 CE by Sultan Ala-ud-din Bahmani to commemorate a military conquest. Chini Mahal: A royal palace decorated with blue porcelain tiles, later used by Aurangzeb to imprison the last ruler of Golkonda, Abul Hasan Qutb Shah. Kala Kot Citadel & Cannons: The upper summit features royal quarters, rain harvesting tanks, and heavy artillery including the Mendha Top. #trending #viral #travel #youtubeshorts #cruise #explore #history #travelshorts #cruiseship #cruisetour #devagiri #daulatabadfort #devagirifort #tranding #shorts #vivews #youtubeshorts #youtubevideo #explore #explorepage #explremore #india #history #best #universe Music : wave of December Musician : VN VIDEOEDITOR
