Great Barrier Reef Yacht Charter: Cairns & Port Douglas by Superyacht | YOTSPACE Australia
What is it like to explore the Great Barrier Reef by private yacht? Nicholas from YOTSPACE sits down with Captain Peter Dodson from superyacht AURORA to discuss yacht charter experiences from Cairns and Port Douglas across Tropical North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef. Here, two World Heritage environments come together, with the Daintree Rainforest meeting the tropical coastline and the Great Barrier Reef extending offshore. Captain Peter explains how the charter experience changes as you travel north, with access to reef systems, clear tropical waters and diverse marine life creating opportunities for snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and extended cruising. He shares some of his favourite areas, including the remote Ribbon Reefs and Arlington Reef, and explains why exploring the Great Barrier Reef by private yacht creates a more personalised experience — with more time to explore and the ability to reach more remote areas. They also discuss seasonal marine encounters including whales, dolphins, manta rays and turtles, and why a longer multi-day yacht charter can make such a difference in Tropical North Queensland. For guests deciding between the Whitsundays and Tropical North Queensland, Captain Peter explains what distinguishes the regions and why Cairns and Port Douglas particularly appeal to guests interested in scuba diving, game fishing and marlin fishing. From remote reefs and remarkable marine life to diving, fishing and extended cruising, discover a different way to experience the Great Barrier Reef.
