Belize has declared a state of emergency near its cruise port, raising safety questions for thousands of upcoming cruise passengers. This week on Dockside Dish, Michelle Procopio breaks down the Belize City state of emergency, what gang violence near the tender port could mean for cruise guests, and why travelers on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, and other Western Caribbean itineraries should pay attention before getting off the ship. We’re also covering Carnival’s ultra-low fare glitch that led to canceled bookings, a tragic pier accident at Carnival’s Celebration Key, Disney Adventure canceling a cruise after guests had already boarded, and the latest cruise illness headlines involving hantavirus, norovirus, and gastrointestinal outbreaks at sea. Plus in Quick Bites: a Carnival Spirit loyalty-line fight leading to federal charges, MSC Poesia and Virgin Voyages bringing new energy to Alaska, and Disney Adventure returning to service after technical issues.
