Looking for cruise tips to save money on a cruise? We break down 8 cruise purchases we no longer buy automatically, including Wi-Fi, drink packages, shore excursions, spa deals and more. Cruise extras can add hundreds of dollars to the cost of a vacation, but that doesn’t mean every add-on is a waste of money. After cruising on multiple cruise lines, Ann and I have learned to look at what we’ll actually use before automatically clicking “add to cart.” In this video, I share 8 cruise purchases we think twice about before buying, along with what we do instead. We’ll talk about premium cruise Wi-Fi, cruise photo packages, bottled water and soda packages, spa treatments, specialty dining, cruise-line transfers, shore excursions and cruise drink packages. You’ll also see real examples from our cruises on Carnival Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Holland America Line and Virgin Voyages, including why a cruise excursion saved us when we returned about three hours late in Belize, how we saved money on an MSC thermal spa pass, and why the math on a drink package can change depending on your itinerary. Some of these cruise extras can absolutely be worth paying for. The key is figuring out whether they’re worth it for your cruise and for the way you travel. If you’re looking for cruise tips, cruise hacks, first-time cruise advice and ways to save money on a cruise without taking the fun out of your vacation, this video is for you.
