Please remember I’m not an experienced movie reviewer I’m just sharing my interests: 5. The Last Voyage: This movie was incredible because most of this was filmed on the decommissioned SS Île de France (my 2nd favourite ocean liner). The ship was flooded, decks exploded & the forward funnel crashes onto the bridge. Everything was real except for the fake top deck during the final 2 minutes. 4. San Demetrio London: Based on the true story of the 1940 salvage of the tanker by some of her own crew. The film was made 3 years after the event & 1 year after the tanker’s sinking. I think it was very well done especially filmed during WW2, I love the work of the models & old special effects. Special thanks to Mike Brady from @OceanlinerDesigns for telling this story a few months ago. 3. Saving the Titanic: Reason why the 1997 movie isn’t here is because I’m not a romance genre fan & how the Titanic’s lights were still on until the very end amazes me giving me great respect to the engineers. Because of this movie I went to the Engineers Memorial in Southampton before boarding the Queen Mary 2 to pay my respects to these courageous men. 2. Lusitania: I think I watched this when it premiered on Australian TV, John Hannah & Kenneth Cranham are great actors, wish the CGI was a little better, seems to follow the conspiracy theories, I doubt Alfred Vanderbilt was cheating on his wife & 1 of Germans mutinied but they were most likely for dramatisation. 1. Yamato: Pretty much like “Titanic 97” the main character is old & tells his story about how he survived the Yamato’s destruction. Takashi Sorimachi & Nakamura Shidō are amazing actors, the 20 minute battle scene was incredible & I visited the museum in the opening scene.
