Stop booking Italy in August #italytravel #italytrip #traveltips #italyvacation #traveladvisor
This is gonna be a hot take, but August is NOT the best time for Italy. 🇮🇹 Yes, it's summer. But that doesn't mean it's the best time to actually enjoy Italy. August brings peak tourist season, intense heat, crowded attractions, and higher prices in many of the country's most popular destinations. Then there's Ferragosto, August 15th, when many locals take their summer holidays. Depending on where you're visiting, you may find smaller restaurants, local shops, and neighborhood businesses closed for days or even weeks. And if you're heading to the coast? Amalfi, Cinque Terre, Sardinia, and other popular beach destinations can be especially packed. That's why early September is one of my favorite times to consider: - Still warm enough for beach days - More local businesses are reopening - Fewer tourists than peak August - Potentially better value If Italy is on your list, I'd seriously consider moving your trip a few weeks later. You'll still get the sunshine, pasta, beaches... just with a little less chaos.
