This time, we're exploring beautiful **Sitka, Alaska**, one of the most scenic ports on our 7-day Norwegian Cruise Line Alaska adventure. Instead of booking an expensive shore excursion or following a strict itinerary, we decided to explore Sitka on foot, discover some local favorites, enjoy the incredible Alaskan scenery, and maybe find a drink or two along the way! And let's just say... Sitka did NOT disappoint! OUR SITKA, ALASKA ADVENTURE! Centennial Hall – Our Starting Point After making our way from the Sitka cruise terminal into downtown Sitka, our adventure begins at Centennial Hall. With no scheduled excursions and nowhere we absolutely had to be, we set off to discover what this charming Alaskan town had to offer. Sitka Sound Science Center – Salmon Watching! Our first adventure takes us to the Sitka Sound Science Center, where we get an up-close look at one of Alaska's most iconic fish — SALMON! We spend some time watching these fascinating fish and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Lincoln Street – Sitka's Incredible Scenery Sometimes the best part of traveling is simply taking in the sights. As we explore Lincoln Street and the surrounding waterfront, we're treated to gorgeous views, colorful buildings, boats, mountains, and the unique atmosphere that makes Sitka such a special Alaskan cruise destination. Ludwig's Chowder – Time for Some Chowder! You can't visit coastal Alaska without enjoying some delicious chowder! We stop at Ludwig's for a bowl of chowder and a chance to relax before continuing our self-guided adventure. Sitka Moose Lodge – The Infamous Moose Fart Shot! Now THIS is something you don't experience every day! We make a stop at the Sitka Moose Lodge, where we try a **MOOSE FART SHOT! Yes, you read that correctly! What exactly is a Moose Fart Shot, and how does it taste? You'll have to watch to find out! St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Cathedral – A Piece of Sitka History We also visit one of Sitka's most recognizable historic landmarks, St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Cathedral. Located in the heart of downtown, this beautiful cathedral is a reminder of Sitka's rich Russian heritage and fascinating history. Dinner at La Cocina – Ending Another Amazing Day! After a full day of walking, sightseeing, exploring, eating, and enjoying Sitka, we wrap up our adventure with dinner at La Cocina. The perfect way to finish another memorable day on our Alaskan cruise!
