RAIN, Huskies and RUIN | When a cruise goes bad
We booked this entire cruise just to see the Hubbard Glacier. Then we got the announcement... 💔 We woke up to a freezing, miserable morning at the Skagway port, but nothing could prepare us for the wild emotional rollercoaster this day turned into. First, we escaped the rain by heading out to Dyea for an unforgettable dog sled mushers camp experience. Getting pulled by 16 powerful Alaskan Huskies on a summer sled ride was an absolute dream, topped off by cuddling brand-new puppies and meeting retired legends! But the good vibes didn't last. After battling the massive crowds of 14,000 cruise passengers crammed into Skagway town, we were hit with the absolute worst news: our visit to the Hubbard Glacier was officially CANCELLED. 😭 This was the entire reason we booked this Alaska cruise! We finally disembarked disappointed in Whittier, where Alaska decided to give us a parting gift.
