Coming home to Newfoundland's west coast — where the mountains remember you even when the people who raised you can't be there to greet you. Home is a curious thing. Sometimes it's a place. Sometimes it's a person. Sometimes it's just the feeling that settles over you the moment the wheels touch down and you know — you're exactly where you're meant to be. In this video, I take you through the journey down: watching the west coast of Newfoundland unfold from above, silver rivers threading through ancient hills, ponds so wide that come-from-aways would swear they were lakes. Landing in Deer Lake, where for so many years my parents would have been waiting. They can't greet us in person anymore — but I feel them in the mountains, in the breeze, in the road that still knows the way home. We drive down through the Humber Valley, past the Man in the Mountain, the way generations of Newfoundlanders have before us. Then the Bay of Islands opens up, glowing in the afternoon light, and I'm reminded — again — why nowhere else has ever come close. This place made me who I am. The strength of the people. The wildness of the land. The humour. The resilience. The quiet understanding that a life well-lived isn't measured by what you earn — it's measured by what you love. The air is different here. The rhythm is different here. My shoulders drop. I breathe deeper. Corner Brook. I'm home. If this brought you back to a home of your own — wherever that is — hit subscribe and follow along as I share more of the expedition cruising, river cruising, and travel stories that shape how I see the world. #CornerBrook #NewfoundlandAndLabrador #BayOfIslands #DeerLake #HumberValley #WestCoastNewfoundland #HomeAgain #ReturnOnLife
