🛳️Our Cruise Was Cancelled: Can We Save Our Dream Asia Trip?🇯🇵
Royal Caribbean cancelled the second leg of our back-to-back cruise from Tokyo to Los Angeles — and now we're faced with a decision we never expected to make: Do we cancel our entire Asia trip? We had planned an incredible journey that would take us from Newark to Singapore, cruise from Singapore to Tokyo, and then continue from Tokyo to Los Angeles by cruise ship. The first part of the journey was already going to be challenging. We had booked a 20-hour nonstop flight from Newark to Singapore, but we were willing to make that journey because the cruise would ultimately bring us home from Asia. Now that the Tokyo to Los Angeles cruise has been cancelled, everything has changed. Our alternative is potentially a 24+ hour flight home from Asia with a connection, at a significant additional cost. And there aren't many — if any — alternative cruise options that make sense for getting us home. And there's something else that makes this decision especially difficult. We're in our 60s, and this trip may have been our opportunity to finally see Singapore and Japan. We've dreamed about seeing Asia, and we don't know how many more opportunities we'll have to take a journey this big. So we're asking ourselves: Do we spend the extra money and endure the long flights to save the trip? Do we completely change our itinerary? Or do we cancel the entire Asia adventure? We're not making this video to bash Royal Caribbean. We understand that cruise cancellations happen. We're sharing what happened because this is the reality of planning a major international cruise vacation — and because we'd really like to know what YOU would do in our situation.
