We learn about the importance of cultural traditions, ancestral stories, navigation and the deep relationship between Māori communities, the land and the ocean. The visit to the wharenui is particularly special, as we experience a traditional welcome and hear a karakia. These moments give us a deeper appreciation of the cultural heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand. 🛶 THE MĀORI WAKA We also spend time admiring a beautifully carved Māori waka. The intricate carvings and design immediately capture our attention and provide a wonderful opportunity to reflect on Māori maritime heritage, navigation and the relationship between people and the ocean. 🌿 KERIKERI BASIN & HISTORIC NEW ZEALAND Our journey through the Kerikeri Basin takes us through beautiful landscapes and past important historic sites, including the Stone Store, Mission House and St. James' Church. It is fascinating to see the layers of Māori and European history that have shaped this part of New Zealand. 🚢 BACK ABOARD ROYAL PRINCESS After our shore excursion, we return to Royal Princess and settle back into life at sea. Day 4 becomes a relaxing sea day as we enjoy the ocean breeze, coffee, our private balcony and spectacular views of the open Pacific. As evening arrives, the ship comes alive with music and dancing in the spectacular multi-level atrium. 💃 CRUISE SHIP DANCING The atmosphere onboard is full of energy as passengers gather to enjoy the music and dance together.
