Hiroshima felt daunting at first ... so much to process and understand. But within a few hours, we were embraced by this beautiful, vibrant, and inspiring place. This wonderful city - literally reborn from the ashes - humbled and amazed us. Jizō Bodhisattva (a type of Buddha-to-be) is believed to protect lost and vulnerable children as well as travelers on both physical and spiritual journeys. He is a particularly special figure for grieving parents. While many visitors will procure locally produced items to offer to Jizō, some bring their own, like the little straw hat.
