Mermaid Origins Documentary: Four Mermaids, Four New Worlds | Virgin Voyages

Our mermaids have stories. And yes, they go deeper than “looks great on a ship.” Mermaid Origins is a behind-the-scenes documentary about the artists bringing Scarlet, Valiant, Resilient, and Brilliant Lady’s mermaid origin stories to life. With creative direction from Native Foreign and AI tools from Magnific, each artist had the freedom to build a world around her. The brief was “mermaids.” Their imaginations took it from there. AI helped them explore their worlds in fantastical ways, never dreamed possible, faster than ever before. French New Wave cinema? Meet Scarlet. Comic book heroine energy? That’s Valiant. Latin American color and artistry? Resilient understood the assignment. And Brilliant’s Milan-inspired world includes an octopus-inspired dress. Eight arms. Absolutely no interest in blending in. Meet the minds making the mythology: • Liliia Zababurina, the artist behind Scarlet’s world. • Verena Puhm, bringing Valiant’s power to the screen. • Paco Veyro and Gilberto Balderas, shaping Resilient’s vibrant world. • Luca Ontino, imagining Brilliant’s independent spirit. • King Willonius, creating the music that gives their stories even more feeling. The documentary explores how these artists developed their visions, with Magnific’s AI tools helping them experiment and refine ideas faster. More “what if?” More “let’s try it.” More of what was in their heads making it onto the screen. Their craft and creative judgment shaped every final choice.
