Honolulu in a Day | Malasadas, Waikiki, Duke Statue & Hilton Starlight Luau | Emerald Princess
Our Hawaii cruise finally brought us to land — Honolulu, Oahu! After several sea days aboard the beautiful Emerald Princess, we finally stepped onto the island and made the most of our single day in Honolulu. Our adventure started with an Uber ride to pick up our rental car from Island Car Rentals. Before exploring the island we made a quick stop at ABC Stores and Target to grab a few toiletries we ran out of on the cruise. Next we attended a beautiful Sunday service at Olivet Baptist Church, recommended by a longtime friend who now lives on the island. After church we enjoyed an incredible authentic Japanese lunch at Totoyo — still one of the most delicious meals of the entire trip! Of course we couldn’t visit Honolulu without stopping at the legendary Leonard's Bakery for fresh malasadas. We then explored Waikiki Beach, visiting the famous Duke Kahanamoku Statue and the historic International Market Place while waiting out a bit of Hawaiian rain. The highlight of the night was attending the incredible Waikiki Starlight Luau at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. Even though weather moved the show indoors, it was still an unforgettable Hawaiian cultural experience. After an amazing day exploring Honolulu, we returned our rental car, grabbed an Uber back to the port, and boarded the beautiful Emerald Princess to end the night.
