Provisioning in the Bahamas is easy in the hubs and very different once you get out into the islands. In this short segment from our Bahamas cruising guide, we talk about where fuel, water, and groceries are easy to find—and what changes when you’re far from civilization, plus a little local etiquette that goes a long way. If you’re planning a Bahamas cruise, this will help you set realistic expectations before you cast off. Transcript: Provisioning is easy in Nassau, Marsh Harbour, or George Town. Once you get out of the islands things get, well, simple. You might find fuel but no water or bread but no vegetables. Fuel and water are at most marinas but prices climb the farther you go from civilization. Sundays are quiet, shops close, families gather, and the smell of barbecues drift across the water. Bahamians are famously kind. Say hello before asking for help and you'll be amazed at how far it gets you. A little politeness goes a long way when you're looking at the last bag of ice on the island.
